Using Mail in MSEL (HSEEP)
Introduction
The Mail feature within an exercise is designed to provide simulated email accounts for agencies not participating in the exercise. The Mail feature provides access to these simulated emails directly within the exercise site.
Permissions: Managers and MSEL Managers within an exercise may create, update, and delete simulated exercise-specific email accounts and assign Controllers to each email account. Assigned Controllers may compose new email messages and read, reply to, and delete email messages.
Create an Email Account
Managers and MSEL Manager may create new exercise-specific email accounts from the Mail tab in the MSEL area of an exercise.
To do so, select the Manage Accounts button.
- Provide a name for the new email account.
- Choose a Controller in the "All" list and add them to the "Selected" list using the right arrow. Note that only site members assigned the Controller role will be included in this list.
- Select the Add button. An email address will be automatically created and added to the table at the bottom of the Manage Accounts window.
- Select Close to close the window.
The newly created email account will be available in the "Select Account" list on the left side of the Mail area.
Update an Email Account
Managers and MSEL Manager may update exercise-specific email accounts from the Mail tab in the MSEL area of an exercise.
To update an existing email account (e.g., change the name or change the assigned Controllers), select the Manage Account button to launch the Manage Accounts window. Locate the target email account in the table of accounts at the bottom of the window and select the edit icon. The process of updating an email account replicates the process of creating an account.
After making any required edits, be sure to select the "update" button before closing the window to save your changes.
Delete an Email Account
Managers and MSEL Managers may delete exercise-specific email accounts from the Mail tab in the MSEL area of an exercise.
To delete an exercise-specific email account, select the Manage Account button to launch the Manage Accounts window. Locate the target email account in the table of accounts at the bottom of the window and select the delete icon.
A confirmation message will be displayed. If you are certain you would like to delete the email account, select OK.
Using the Email Accounts
Managers and MSEL Managers have access to all email accounts for a specific exercise. Controllers have access to any accounts to which they have been assigned.
Any email accounts you to which you have access will appear in the Select Account list. Select the appropriate account.
The Mail area displays standard Inbox and Sent folders. Use the Mail feature to compose messages as you would a typical browser-based email client.
