Accessing the Resource Inventory System
To access RIS, users must meet the following:
- You must have a PrepToolkit account that is vetted and approved.
- You must be approved for the use of RIS.
- You must be assigned to an organization within RIS.
For most users, access to RIS typically takes less than one week.
Register for a PrepToolkit Account
All users must register for a PrepToolkit account before getting access to RIS. This is the initial step required for getting access to RIS.
Request RIS Access during PrepToolkit Registration
Upon registering for a PrepToolkit account, you will be provided with the option to request access to RIS on the new account/profile form.
- Under Request Application Access, select the check box for "Resource Inventory System (RIS)" and leave an explanation as to why you are requesting access to the system. Select Submit to complete.

Note: Your PrepToolkit and RIS requests will display as Access Pending until a PrepToolkit Manager has reviewed and processed this request. You will receive an automatic email regarding the status of this request once the decision is made.
Request RIS Access with an Existing PrepToolkit Account
Users who did not request access to RIS upon registration for a PrepToolkit account, and users who do not already have access to RIS can request access by navigating to your PrepToolkit Edit Profile page.
- Sign in to PrepToolkit, select your user avatar/image, and select Edit Profile.
- On the Edit Profile screen, under Application Access, select Request Access.
- Under Request Application Access, select the check box for "Resource Inventory System (RIS)" and leave an explanation as to why you are requesting access to the system. Select Submit to complete.

Note: Your RIS request will display as Access Pending until a PrepToolkit Manager has reviewed and processed this request. You will receive an automatic email regarding the status of this request once the decision is made.
Getting Assigned to an Organization in RIS
All users will need to belong to an organization before successfully accessing RIS.
- Organization Administrators in RIS can create and assign users to their organization. RIS does not send out automatic emails upon assignment. Organization Administrators should communicate with you to identify that they have added you to their organization for RIS.
- If you have not been assigned to an organization, but know your organization already exists in RIS, contact your Organization Administrator (e.g. a qualifications or training manager) for assignment.
- If your organization is not established, or you are unsure who to contact from your organization, please fill out the NRH Systems Organization Request Form.
